Creating a Judgment-free Zone Around Mental Health – Alessandra Torresani

The Big Bang Theory, Caprica, Arrested Development, Malcolm in the Middle, are just a few of the names of the hit shows you may recognize our guest from. Alessandra Torresani is well known for her acting and advocacy for mental health.

In our interview with Alessandra Torresani, she openly discusses early signs of mental illness that were overlooked, and the ultimate diagnosis of bipolar polar 1 disorder at the age of 22. At first, she was discouraged from discussing her experience with bipolar disorder, however, after making the decision to share her story and invite a conversation centered around mental health, her work around advocacy was kick-started. In fact, she has since founded her own podcast called EmotionAL Support, where she discusses mental health with guests.

Alessandra suggests we “talk about it”. It is not shameful to go to a doctor. There are so many things that we all live with, making us unique and special.
