Don’t Limit Yourself or Underestimate the Value You Bring – Travis Walker
Today’s guest is Travis Walker, a dynamic sales and business development leader with a track record of leading high performing teams. Travis has consistently created a reputation for himself at each company he’s worked for resulting in promotions to senior-level executive roles, ultimately giving him the responsibility of leading teams as large as a thousand people.
A master recruiter and team builder, Travis is able to find the best people and help them reach levels of success they may not have realized was even possible. When we worked together at SolarCity and Tesla he and his teams consistently exceeded targets thanks to a strong belief in executing the fundamentals while building a culture where winning is contagious.
On the show, Travis walker shares why after earning a Law degree he decided to take a career path away from the legal world, how his experience at a Jesuit university gave him a strong foundation based on compassion and morality, and why he believes you should never use your challenges as a reason for failure. He discusses his unique perspective on being one of the few African American senior-level leaders at companies he’s worked for and how that influenced his mindset, why he believes in the power of mentors, and why he places so much value on remembering the importance of doing exceptional work.
